Miniatures Recently picked up several packs from the Future Wars series inc. Band on the Run - 5 figures inc. one female, 'guns and guitars', very nice, clean sculpts, self-standing, and I'm looking forward to using them in several games (everything from modern Call of Cthulhu to Starship Troopers). But just a touch of de-ja-vue . . . two of the figs are almost identical to both of GrenadiersHeavy Metal Maniacs. Coincidence ?

overpainting Please excuse my ignorance but I've got a question that maybe somebody can help with ... if you've laid on too much paint on a mini and covered over some detail you'd like to keep what's the best way to take off the excess if it's dried.
The particular model I'm thinking of is a metal type but I'd be glad to get anyones input for metal or plastics, and is there a difference ?

I would use the ligh-*test*-('") grade of sand paper (Im not familiar with the grade numbers but go by the feetl). If the area you are trying to remove is small, I would cut a small square of sand paper off, and then glue it onto a toothpick, or something like it, and then rub the paint until it comes off. The light sand paper should keep from damaging the pewter/lead. If the paint cannot be removed by sand paper because of too many crevices or cracks, then I would try some paint thinner and a Q-Tip.

the best way that i have found to remove paint is to soak it in simple green over night and then scrub the model with a tooth brush.

I will have to try that method, I like it better than the paint thinner. less toxic.
