Star Trek based games
I'm a total fanatic for Star Fleet Battles and the strategic games thereof, plus the classic Lou Zocchi floor-game (hit a Klingon at 5' 11" with all Photons back in 1978). Love the Decipher CCG (just don't ask me to explain the Borg)! How about the RPG's ?

I haven't played Federation Commander yet, any fan want to show me how ?

Over the years I've played both Federation Space and Federation and Empire but I'm especially looking for Campaign players ... besides the Admiral's Game and Economy of Force mini-campaigns I've run two 'full' SFB campaigns (plus a similar type game that pre-dates SFB) and played in three others that were all different.

For regular SFB I don't have any particular preferences, I've played with and against everything from Orions and Romulans to Tholians and Hydrans - patrols, monsters, and fleet actions. I can teach the basics of the game, and am willing to learn too - Game Zone in Pasadena where I played before has some of the regular designers and pro play--*test*-('")ers. For a Campaign I have a plan for incorporating the Early era ships and tech advancement with a detailed galaxy map and economics plus politics/espionage - it's complex enough that I need to give it a trial run and particularly want players interested in running Kzinti and Gorn to contact me. The campaign goal isn't as simple as taking over quadrants, mining dilithium, making 100 million credits, or reaching a 5000 EP economy, it's a struggle for the very survival of your species.

What I'd really like is a partner to -*test*-('") out Gorn vs. Kzinti, my uber-campaign concept puts these two into potential conflict and very little has ever been written about these two battling. I think I've seen every published scenario, except some issues of Starfleet Times, and never a Gorn vs. Kzinti - I'm thinking to do a couple of basic patrol matchups and then some of the generic mission-scenarios plus substituting for various race-specific scenarios. All told that's about a dozen games to play, and replay, to get -*test*-('") results ... and at two games a month that's probably going to fill 2008 ! Anybody up to the challenge ?

In this Campaign the player-empires will start small, poised to leap out with Early Years ships to explore and colonize vast uncharted territories; economics will be tied to positioning, maintaining, and networking appropriate units; technology developement will be modified-freeform so that many types and generations of ships can compete. Available races include Federation, Klingon, Hydran, Lyran, Kzinti, Gorn, and Tholian - playing a Cartel or Caravan may also be an option.
