Wednesday Board game night, 1-16 Review and upcoming
Another busy night. Had to break up into two groups, one playing Starcraft and another playing Hermagor. Starcraft is still one of my favorite big box games to come out in awhile, but the Protoss have to remember to stock up on the bug spray when the Zerg come visiting. Hermagor is a market trading game that can involve a suprising amount of backstabbing in the market phase. We also managed to get in two games in the time it took for one game of Starcraft. Going to have to add this one to the regular rotation. After that I broke out some of the quick games, so we played a 5 player game of Sharp Shooters and 3 6 player games of Cash N Guns. Both fast and fun games, we have to remember to get in a game of Cash N Guns using the informant next week. For next week I did hear one person mention wanting Axis and Allies. I also think Attack! or Conquest of the Empire would be good games along those lines as well. Or maybe Nexus Ops for a simpler version of the global dominance theme. As always, feel free to let me know if you have any requests or suggestions Wooko Wednesday night board game guy

Conquest of the Empire, from MB, kewl !

In our defense, StarCraft took longer due to general (early) confusion regarding play sequence and a mis-understanding regarding what a first game should entail. Namely: play it, learn it, and then play it again! VS plod along, don't ask questions (lest your strategy be unveiled!), and turtle for the special victory. Sheesh. I was similarly guilty, but am only a small cog in a larger machine. As far as suggestions go: I just like seeing games that I haven't seen before. Therefore the suggestion round is, for me, wasted, as almost anything would suffice. Thanks again for your time Wooko, and I hope to see you and the group around again.

What time do you typically start ?

Wooko- 02-01-2008

We try to get together around 6, get everything together, figure out what we want to play, and explain rules to people who need them. We usually get the first game going around 6:30-7pm.
