Wednesday board game night, 12-26 It felt like a lite gaming night tonight, I think just because we started with Race for the Galaxy, instead of ending with it. 4 player game, close fight, came down to one point between first and second. After that we gave Container a try. At first we all were confused on how the mechanics worked, but after a few rounds, we all started to really get into it. The only problems we really had is that it seemed almost impossible to tell who was actually winning until the final points were tallied (blind point system), and that the game just seemed longer than it needed to be. Still not sure what the final analysis is, going to have to give it another play sometime. Finally, to end the night, we had a game of Viktory II, an interesting territory control game. Even though it is hex based, at first glance it reminds a lot of people of Risk, but I feel that it's more forgiving than Risk. At the end of each turn you get to bring your armies back up to full stregnth, so it is vital that you take advantage of every chance you have to conqure opposing territory. A good game, but like most territory control games, it can take awhile to play as people try to map out the best moves for their turns.
No ideas what I would like to see hit the table next week, so give me a buzz if there's something specific you would like to see.
